
Fishermen in Chilaw and Negombo areas have decided to resume fishing activities from tomorrow following discussions held with Deputy Minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratne and government representatives.
It was assured during the talks that the fuel subsidy, which the government decided to grant fisher folk, will be provided continuously, the Deputy Minister of State Resources and Enterprise Development said.
Therefore the fishermen have decided to engage in their occupation starting from tomorrow (Feb. 21), Gunaratne added.
Fishermen in Chilaw and Negombo had refrained from going out to sea in protest of the recent hike in fuel prices.(source:Adaderana)
